Jan-Michael started another US Open campaign
with a victory. Playing fellow American wildcard Rajeev Ram, Jan-Michael won through
in 4 sets - 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 - to take his place in the second round. Next up will
be Joachim Johansson (otherwise known as PimPim). Check back later this week to

ATP Highlights 2001 -
2002
Jan-Michael had a phenomenal year in 2001, reaching a career high
position of 15 on the Entry System and rising as high as No.2 on the Champions Race.
However, injury plagued his progress as this season went on and this meant that
Jan-Michael was not able to improve on this. In 2002, Jan-Michael reached the final
in Los Angeles (where he lost to an inspired Agassi) and semi finals at Memphis, San Jose
and Delray Beach.
